Roll to Roll Strip Stamping Machine – 12" Hot Stamping Machine

It is a hot foil stamping machine in which the stamping element is a heated roll rather than a flat plate. The strip or tape runs from an unwinding unit, passes between the heater roll and its counter roll with foil in between, and is rewound. Because the roll turns continuously with the web, the foil is applied along the strip without stopping and starting.

The machine is sized for 12" work. Web tension is managed by electronic web control, the stamping temperature is set on a temperature controller unit, and a meter counter records the length run. The unwinding side carries a two roll disc attachment, and the up and down rewinding system winds the finished strip. The machine occupies a footprint of about 5.6 ft by 4.8 ft and stands 3.6 ft high.

Heater Roll for Continuous Stamping

The heated roll stamps foil onto the strip as it turns, producing an unbroken foil design along the length of the tape. Repeating patterns and continuous lines come out without joins.

Meter Counter

Two Roll Disc Unwinding Attachment

The unwinding side is fitted with a two roll disc attachment, holding the strip roll steady as it feeds into the stamping section.

Up and Down Rewinding System

The finished strip is wound on an up and down rewinding system, which allows the operator to manage rewinding without stopping the machine between rolls.

Compact, Low Power

A 1 HP AC variable speed motor on three phase power drives the machine, and the footprint of about 5.6 ft by 4.8 ft fits a small finishing area.

The strip roll is mounted on the two roll disc unwinding attachment and the foil roll is loaded on its own spindle. The strip and the foil are threaded together between the heater roll and its counter roll, and the strip continues to the up and down rewinding system. The operator sets the stamping temperature on the temperature controller unit and the speed on the AC variable speed drive.

When the machine runs, the heated roll presses the foil against the moving strip, and the foil's carrier is taken away leaving the metallic layer bonded to the tape in the pattern of the roll. Electronic web control holds the strip tension steady across the process, the meter counter tallies the length, and the finished strip winds on the rewinding system. Job changes involve swapping the foil and, for a new pattern, the stamping roll.
