Flatbed Label Printing Machine – RK-4130/E (4 Colour Printing + Lamination + Die Cutting)

The RK-4130/E is a roll-to-roll flatbed label printing machine with three functions built into one line: four colour printing, lamination and die cutting. The web is fed intermittently, stroke by stroke, under electronic servo control, so each station works on a stationary section of the web before it advances.

The printing area is 300 mm x 410 mm in total. In four colour mode each colour has a 300 mm x 95 mm area; in three colour mode each colour has 300 mm x 130 mm. The die cut area is 300 mm x 250 mm. A 5 HP three phase AC main motor with variable speed control drives the machine, and the overall power consumption is 7.5 HP three phase.

Four Colour Printing on One Bed

The 300 mm x 410 mm printing area is divided across the colours, 300 mm x 95 mm per colour in four colour mode or 300 mm x 130 mm in three colour mode. Plates are flat and quick to mount, which keeps make-ready short on small jobs.

Inline Lamination

A lamination system on the same frame applies a protective film over the printed label before die cutting. Labels that need scuff or moisture protection are finished in the same pass.

Die Cutting Station

The die cut area of 300 mm x 250 mm cuts the laminated, printed web to label shape. Motorised waste rewinding takes the matrix away, and auto rewinding winds the finished labels.

Repeat Pass Scanner

The repeat pass scanner system reads the print mark on pre-printed material so the die cut, lamination or second pass printing lands in register.

Servo Controlled Paper Feeding

Paper feeding is controlled by an electronic servo motor system, so the web advances the same length on every stroke. The machine control is fully digital electronic with an auto stop system.

Auto Unloading and Auto Rewinding

Automatic unloading on the unwind side and automatic rewinding on the delivery side keep the operator free to watch the print instead of managing rolls.

Optional Cross Foil Stamping and Sheet Cutting

A cross foil unit for stamping can be added, with the condition that either printing or stamping runs at a time. An auto sheet cutting unit is also available as an extra for jobs delivered in sheets.

The label stock is loaded on the auto unloading unit and threaded through the machine. On each stroke the servo feed advances the web by the set length and stops. While the web is stationary, the flat printing plates press down and print the colours in their allotted areas, the lamination station applies film, and the die cutting station cuts the label shape. The web then advances again, and the cycle repeats up to 5000 times an hour.

For pre-printed rolls the repeat pass scanner reads the print mark and corrects the feed so the die cut stays in register. The waste matrix is pulled away by the motorised waste rewinding system and the finished labels are wound on the auto rewinding unit. If the optional cross foil unit is fitted, the machine is switched to stamping mode for foil work and back to printing mode afterwards.
