FMS-Nice-P-320 8 Colour Flexo Printing Machine With All UV Dryer

The FMS-Nice-P-320-8 is a rotary flexographic label press with eight servo-driven printing stations. In a conventional flexo press, one main motor turns all the units through a gear train, so a small error at one station travels down the line. In a full servo press, each station has its own motor and is controlled from a central touch screen. The control system corrects colour-to-colour registration on its own, and the operator can adjust one unit while the rest of the line keeps its settings.

"All UV dryer" means every printing unit has a UV lamp for curing UV inks. The same units also carry hot air dryers, so water-based and solvent-based inks can run on the same machine. The 8 colour version is the configuration published on this page; the FMS-Nice-P series is available from 2 to 12 colours and in 320, 450, 550 and 670 mm web widths.

Eight Servo-Driven Printing Units

Eight colours cover process printing (CMYK) plus four spot colours, or a mix of spot colours, white, varnish and metallic. Because each station has its own servo drive, adding colours does not add registration drift. The machine holds register across all eight units on long runs.

All UV Dryer and Hot Air Dryer on Every Unit

UV inks cure instantly under the lamps, so the web can move to the next colour without smudging. Hot air handles water-based inks on paper. Having both on every unit means the same press can run film labels on UV in the morning and paper labels on hot air in the afternoon, without changing the drying arrangement.

Automatic Plate Registration System

Manual registration eats time and material at the start of every job. The automatic plate registration system brings the plates into position electronically, which cuts setup waste. For printers who change jobs several times a day, this matters more than the top speed of the press.

Chiller Drum System

Heat from the dryers can stretch thin film. The chiller drum cools the web after drying, so the machine holds registration on substrates as thin as 12 micron. This is what makes the machine usable for shrink film and other heat-sensitive materials.

Ultrasonic Web Guide and Load-Cell Tension Control

The unwinding unit carries an imported ultrasonic-based electronic web guide and an auto electronic tension controller with load cell feedback (powder brake). The rewinding unit uses an auto tension controller with powder clutch. Between them, the web stays centred and at a steady tension through printing, drying and die cutting.

Quick Change and One-Time Pressure Setting

Printing cylinders change quickly, and impression pressure is set once per job rather than re-set at every station. Combined with the automatic registration, this shortens the gap between finishing one job and starting the next.

Two Rotary Die-Cutting Units With Conveyor

The first rotary die-cutting unit cuts the label shape. The second handles sheet cutting or full cutting, with a conveyor belt system to carry cut pieces away. Finished labels or sheets come off the line without a separate converting step.

The substrate roll is loaded on the unwinding unit with the pneumatic loading system. The web passes through the ultrasonic web guide and the tension controller, which keep it centred and under steady tension.

The web then enters the eight printing stations in sequence. At each station, a ceramic anilox roller meters ink onto the plate, and the plate transfers the image to the web. The servo drive on that station keeps the plate in register with the stations before and after it. After each colour, the web passes through the UV lamp or the hot air dryer, and over the chiller drum where required.

After the last colour, the web moves through any optional units on the line – turn bar, cold foil, lamination or delam-relam – and into the rotary die-cutting section. The first unit cuts the label; the second can sheet-cut or full-cut onto the conveyor. Finished rolls wind on the rewinding unit with its own tension control. The whole line is set up and monitored from the touch screen.

The FMS-Nice-P series covers a substrate range of 12 micron to 200 GSM. Within that range the machine runs self-adhesive label stock, paper, PVC, BOPP, PET and other compatible filmic materials. The final print result depends on the substrate, ink, anilox specification, drying and plate together, so share actual material samples with RK before the configuration is finalised.

• Count the colours on your regular jobs. If most jobs use four to six colours, a 6 colour machine may be the better buy; if you print process work plus spot colours, white and varnish, eight is the practical minimum.
• Check your substrates. Mostly thin film means the chiller drum and UV drying do the main work. Mostly paper means hot air carries more of the load.
• Match the web width. 320, 450, 550 and 670 mm options are available. Choose against your common label layouts and the roll widths your suppliers provide.
• Check the repeat range. The published repeat range for the series is 200 to 650 mm.
• Decide on inline finishing. Two rotary die-cutting units cover die cutting and sheet cutting. Add turn bar, cold foil, lamination, delam-relam or sheeter stacker only if your jobs use them.
• Confirm floor space. The machine is 8 ft high and 6 ft wide, with a length of 18.5 to 40 ft depending on units and options. RK shares a layout drawing before installation.

The price of an 8 colour flexo printing machine depends on the configuration: web width, drying arrangement, number of die-cutting stations, anilox rollers, printing cylinder sets and the optional units all change the final cost.
